The Indian junior women’s hockey team opened their campaign in South Africa with an 8-1 win over the hosts.

The visitors showed good structure in their attack with consecutive goals from the first minute of the match.

Goals were scored by Deepika Senior (1′, 30′), vice-captain Rojata Dadasu Pusal (18′), Harthika Singh (20′), Sunilita Topu (28′), Deepika Soering (36′) and Anu (44′). did ) on Friday.

Mikaela Le Roux (36′) was the only goal scorer for South Africa.

The Indian Junior Women’s team will play two more matches against the South Africa U-21 team on Saturday and Monday, followed by two matches against the South Africa ‘A’ team on February 24 and 25 respectively.
