Telangana’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday condemned the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, calling it an “undemocratic” move.
Mr. Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday evening in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now defunct excise policy for 2021-22.
In a statement, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the BJP was resorting to “sneaky politics” by instigating central agencies against opposition parties in states where the saffron party could not come to power. .
He alleged that BJP’s political conspiracies against the opposition have become a hindrance to democracy in the country and the arrest is the pinnacle of BJP’s success politics.
The BRS leader further alleged that Mr. Sisodia was arrested after the BJP’s defeat in the Delhi mayoral elections and a “reprimand” by the Supreme Court.
Rama Rao added that in Telangana too, BJP planned to buy MLAs which was foiled.
