A period crime drama, the film centers on a police operation to bring down the ‘People’s Army’, a fictitious separatist group that has taken up arms and is hiding in the jungle. It stars popular comedian Suri in his debut as a hero. Vijay Sethupathi Playing an important role, as the leader of the rebels, in an extended cameo. The cast also includes actor-director Gautham Vasudev Menon.

The trailer of Part 1 shows the trials and tribulations of a constable, Kumarasan (Suri), who is just one cog in a much larger system that is out to catch Perumal Vithiyar (Vijay Sethupathi). Perumal, a passionate leader of the People’s Army, has waged a war against the authorities for harassing and torturing the women of his village.
Kumarasan has to fight against the system to make his mark in his quest to capture Perumal Vathiyar, who is more than meets the eye.
Alaiyaraja Composed music for Viduthalai. This is his first collaboration with Vitrimaran, while Dhanush has sung a duet for the film.
