Underscoring the need for gender equality, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday unveiled ‘Kuni’, the mascot of the Women and Child Welfare Department, besides launching a new policy ‘Pramabh’, which aims to empower children. It tries to focus on physical and mental health and education.
The CM noted during a program that women empowerment is “not just a slogan but a movement in Odisha”.
“Women have carved a niche for themselves in this state, going from being members of self-help groups to becoming entrepreneurs,” Mr. Patnaik said.
He also pointed out that technology has provided an opportunity to eliminate the gender divide in society.
“Protecting women’s rights, using innovation and technology to bridge disparities in education, employment, workplace and society,” he said.
