I Nandita Das‘ Zwegato, Kapil Sharma Play the role of an ex-factory worker turned food delivery rider in Bhubaneswar. Ahead of the film’s theatrical release on March 17, the makers have launched a new trailer.
In the new trailer, we meet Kapil as a lower-middle-class man trying to understand the gig economy. His character, Manas, adapts to selfies and ratings, slowly discovering the exploitative aspects of his new profession. For example, his hopes of earning a few extra bucks are dashed when he realizes that one order pays him – regardless of the number of boxes he carries.
To support him, Manas’s wife, Pratima, played by Shahana Goswami, works as a housekeeper. This upsets Manas, who cannot accept the idea of sharing his wife’s burden due to his conservative mentality. The trailer also introduces us to the children of Manas and a hard-hearted employer played by Sayani Gupta.
Zwegato It was previously screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival in 2022. It was also screened as the opening film of the ‘Kaleidoscope Section’ of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). The film is noted for the impressive casting of Kapil, who is best known as a stand-up comedian and host on Indian TV.
